Could someone clarify why completing this V2MOM is crucial? I've been asked to come from PTO - prioritize and complete it ASAP.

What's hilarious is having to show $150-200K a year engineers how to modify a word doc. Albeit, an absolutely useless one from the checkbox hire.
I wish it was a simple Word doc! It's a cloud-based editing tool that keeps a history of changes and you can't copy and paste the whole thing. You have to copy and paste small sections. Why are we paying yet another company to sell us a license to some software that could be easily matched by using SharePoint?
Who was the damn id--t who thought a "table" was the best way to put text that's expected to be a sentence or paragraph? Never mind, it was probably the same damn id--t that thinks the whole thing has value.

Just because you do the V2MOM doesn't mean you're not innovative. It just means that you don't want to spend the time fighting against stupid management decisions.
Unless V2MOM is eating over 1,900 hours a year of your time it's no where near the long pole in that tent.
Weee, Cisco and MM are doubling down on the complete waste of people-hours spent on V2MOMs.
Everyone in Operations and CX has been invited to a 30-min meeting led by the VP Customer insights and Sr Dir, Customer Voice Strategy & Execution as they focus on how to use your V2MOM throughout the year to stay aligned w/ the top priorities of ONEx and maximize your impact.
Oh well, at least I can block off a 30-min block of time where someone can't schedule a conflicting meeting and I can take a 30-min nap.
In a nutshell, we should let go of all the people that actually do the V2MOM so we can keep the innovative people? Good idea

The problem is that MM is not just over CX anymore, but has gotten her claws into operations and security.
Copy & paste, reminders with emails, Webex bots, and managers following up & down the chain for something useless totally illustrates CX's and V2MOM's values and waste of operating cost to Cisco.
Exactly...I called out in a skip level how I thought that the V2MOM was a waste of people-hours for the individual contributors who make up the majority of Cisco's workforce. We don't get to decide what's important for us to do and how to measure it. That's a manager's and above job to tell the IC's what we need to be doing and measuring it. Let the manager's and above spend time on the V2MOMs and let the rest of us just do our jobs and save the tens of thousands of people hours. I was told by my skip-level that s/he actually used our V2MOMs to measure us in making our IPFs and rewards cycle determinations. I responded that I didn't know how s/he could do that because everyone under my manager has just done a copy and paste of our manager's V2MOM because that's what we were told to do, so they'd be measuring all of us against the same thing and we'd all have the same results because all the goals were at the manager & higher level.
Such a fu----g waste of time. But I play the game and copy/paste and ignore until mid year, then I copy my manager's scores to my scores and ignore until the end of the year when we get to do it all over again. I didn't even bother to add the year-end measurements to last year's V2MOM and no one has said jack sh-t about it yet. At some point, I'll go back and make sure that the link to last year's V2MOM is deleted from my directory page so it makes it harder for someone to go view it.
That is why Cisco is fu---d., too many people are tied up doing all this sh-t rather than adding customer value with truly innovative and quality solutions.
Actually the reason is your software engineering staff doesn't have even the most basic software skills and your technical and managerial leadership don't have any leadership skills. At least the legacy FORTRAN and COBOL maintainers have enough self awareness to know what they've signed up for.
No use at all. Complete and utter BS. In other companies do you really think expert staff like electronics engineers, lawyers, architects, MD, surgeons, car mechanics are doing bullsh-t like doing V2MOMs? That's Cisco all over; waste precious engineer's time on all this sh-t rather than have them do useful, interesting and innovative work. That is why Cisco is fu---d., too many people are tied up doing all this sh-t rather than adding customer value with truly innovative and quality solutions.
If you don't expect stock or a salary that matches inflation... Cisco is ideal
Please list here all companies which match inflation on salaries.

We don't need innovative people to sell legacy network equipment. Cheapest bodies possible that don't challenge the status quo. If you don't expect stock or a salary that matches inflation... Cisco is ideal
Previous ELTs already built relationships to ensure Cisco equipment must be installed in Government and Fortune 500 companies within North America.

I completely call BS on this post.
First, they provide employees with tons of advance notice of the deadline to have it completed. You get emails, Webex bot reminders, and every manager is talking about it so they they, and their boss, and so on don't appear on the "naughty list" for having employees not getting it completed on time.
Why would you not get it done before you went on PTO if you're going to be on PTO when the deadline expires?! If you had to take emergency PTO, that's one thing and then your manager should be reporting it up the chain that you can't because of an emergency. Otherwise, all this grief is on you for not getting your sh-t done before the deadline.
How hard is it to copy and paste your manager's V2MOM into yours? My manager has two functional areas that he's responsible for, and half the team deals with one and the other half deals w/ the other, so all we had to do was copy and paste the parts that we support. If you can't do such a simple task, you should not be working at Cisco. We no longer innovate, and all we do is simple tasks, so if you can't manage that, go look for work elsewhere.
I admit the V2MOM is useless, but getting yourself on the "naughty list", getting your manager on it , and getting your senior manager and/or director on it, you are not making yourself popular. I expect that you'll end up on the next LR list as your management chain doesn't need the headache you're causing them with their bosses.
V2MOM at Cisco is not like it was used at Salesforce. It is some stupid checkbox that MM brought with her. Completely useless, but so is her Methods and Measurements with no implementable actionable plans that conflict with the stupidity that is the OneX “Agile” transformation. Id--ts.
What are you doing OP??? When I am on PTO work phone and email are off. I am sure Cisco can survive without me for a few days. Never share private mobile and email with Cisco. Being available 24x7 does you no favors at all - let them miss you.
V2MOM is a free get out of jail card. Do it and you will part of the CX tribe. Safer than the other groups that are being impacted. If you are already in CX, go with the flow like everyone else in CX and you will be fine. Beat doing real work.
DEI hire that they can't undo - otherwise it would be an admission that DEI is a failure.
As a customer since the 1990s I can say the absolute failure started way before DEI. Cisco is the personification of the old joke "we lost our contact lens over there but we're looking over here because the light is better."

Why do people even respond to work related texts/calls while on PTO?
