UAW Pres is wise in his decision to slowly give the company a chance. However, it appears strike zones are rapidly picking up due to no respect for this most gracious curtesy that has been given. Just a short matter of time the UAW will succeed as always in achieving a fair contract for all.

GREED, drives UAW leaders to shut down plants, when it comes down to it, there are some in the union proven to be takers, hoarders and poorly educated folks, but not all of them are this way. Unfortunately, UAW is all they have, talk about a political party elected in perpetuity, like California politicians......

Trick is to pump the brakes before you overplay your hand

I think the OP means that Fain outsmarted the automakers by thinking outside of the box and causing a creative disruption by being a transformational leader. Threatening to strike Arlington didn't hurt either.

Jack be nimble, Jack be quick!

And Jack jumped over the candle stick.

UAW President is Jack and GM is the candle stick he must jump over if he burned.

Jumping over a candle stick is good fortune….

But him, aka UAW pres, being nimble is all from a certain point of view.
