Thread regarding Avaya layoffs

Does "execution" mean more reduction in force?

AM quote from today's meeting “We have reset cost structure, again there is more execution to do.”

The Harvard MBA Is Bad for You
They should put a Surgeon General's warning on this thing

There are enough dead weight bl_whards to eliminate. There is zero need to target the person who logs in at 6:30 am and goes non stop until 8 pm just because they don't desire to go to an office.

Let's make it simple. Those who posted 3 outfit changes, a tik-tok dance video and a visit to the local mall to drive a mini car for an ugly sweater event all before 1 pm on a business day.

Don't ever sneeze on the smugness and elite self justified arrogance of a Harvard MBA
(Google McKinsey to see the real value of Harvard MBAs in the world)

I recommend the individual that received that atrociously smug response to their perfectly valid question to seek advice from an employment lawyer to see if they have grounds for a lawsuit. I do not recommend them to go to HR for reasons we all should know about.

When was the last time you talked like that with a colleague? Absolutely ridiculous.

CORRECT ✓
Any comments implying that remote working was an "Experiment" is Bullochs. Curious how it would hold up in court. Avaya didn't "trial" WFH during pandemic. It was widespread, established for over a decade!

Avaya selling the VO remote working lemonade, but not prepared to drink themselves! Presenteeism is all about management distrust = Bad for culture and morale. Way to go Alan... What an end-game...

Its very interesting that they announce this return to office after the EERP deadline. It is clear they were not able to get enough people to accept the EERP so this return to office is to push people to voluntarily leave to not pay severance or a package. Majority of us have been working from home for the last 15 years and many more people would have accepted the EERP if they knew about the new 5 days a week policy if you are located in the very few offices we have left.

Normally, companies would get a pulse check and take surveys on individuals opinions for work environment rather than a rip the band aid off approach stating: I expect you to be in office 5 days a week at the start of the month, we will be watching.

It is crystal clear the goal is to get rid of as many people as possible as we have seen the last year and it will continue.

Did anyone catch the name of the 2019 study he referenced, which demonstrated VO employees were less productive? Was this a reputable, peer reviewed study?

As AM is pointing into the camera from yesterday's meeting, he said: "Candidly, the experiment of being fully virtual didn't work." and "I'm also not suggesting that you come back 3 days a week or four days a week or four and a half days a week or two days a week. It's very simple is and I've said this often is, it's your office, you work at an office and if you need to be home cuz you got a doctor's appointment or whatever that's your business I'm going to treat you like a professional expect to act like one!"

Is this the art of scolding employees?

Will be interesting to see how the forced to return to office thing goes. So, a salaried worker, who's already working many unpaid hours, will be required to work after-hours tasks, presumably alone, in an office? I believe many tolerated the hours and stress because they were VO based. Staggering through an empty office building to a dark parking lot and piling into your car, after a brutal all-nighter before attempting to drive home sounds completely ridiculous.

It's called
Bullied Attrition
Frustrate enough people to leave on their own. Further improve balance sheet. Avoid severance

C'mon Go DPTW, 5 days in office, I fully trust the Lie-E-O.

Sorry I missed type, I mean the CEO.

After all the lies Alan has told the employees, I can’t see why any of you would even attend his BS sessions. What’s the point. Use that hour to go take a dump, something more productive.

"There's a question which is I'm a little disappointed by. So somebody wrote I am 35 miles from an office but it's a one and a quarter 1.25 hour commute each way. Should this be based on time or miles? Come on - come on, I said 40 miles, you know you're a professional, - handle it."

Everything the man says is a lie……
I’m not here to go through Chapter 11
I’m here to be the CEO of a public company
We have the best balance sheet
Return to work on on a gradual basis….wait I made a mistake, come in 3 days….now you have all pi---d me off, so I’m going to stomp my feet and make you come in 5 days a week!
We need to clean up the job library before we give raises - Does this make any sense at all?
I want everyone within 40 miles / 64 Km of an office to be in the office - except me and my direct reports.

He keeps this $hit up and he’ll be the only person left at the destination.
