By giving the company extensions it only shows weakness

Apparently math is not a skill of social media guy.

2 weeks ago folks reported a 30 day extension to contract negotiations.

Been extending and extending and extending for the last 10 or so years. Vtp after 30 years in 2017. Two years later they cut my Aetna medical insurance, I had to go back and get a real job in corporate America rather than side gigs for pocket money. I lump sum to my pension because I've seen what happens when a company goes bankrupt to people that are collecting a pension as my dad was with the United when they went bankrupt. Pbgc took over the pension but he still lost $500 a month. I wasn't taking that chance, I cashed it all out got everything I could away from Avaya. Avaya sealed its own fate when they start making hardware. After they cut my medical insurance they gave us $2,200 a year for the next two years and I doubt we're going to get a nickel this year. I was told medical benefits for retirees was never in the CBA but that Avaya still gave them to retirees I guess it was out of the kindness of their heart?

Don't you mean the PBGC?

The pension isn't really all that good. No COLA but it's protected by the PGF. They cut the retirees lose from health insurance a long time ago. If Avaya went poof Monday the only benefits I'd loose is a small life insurance policy and dental insurance. I doubt this has much to do with retirees.

Is the potty mouth social media guy, who was an event planner, going to town on labor statistics, Avaya legacy staff, social demographics and retirement benefits?
God Avaya. You never know how to manage your non experienced, non tenured, non sophisticated marketing people. Pathetic.

Please enlighten us with the current number of retired ex avaya employees collecting retirement benefits.. everyone who retired was 80 years old 30 years ago

Precisely.

It has little to do with current employees and VTP offers. It's about retirees and their unlimited time to focus on preserving benefits. Volumes who 'retired" at 50 over the past 15 yrs. And they still want to fight for pension and co-insurance.

Never shocked at current Avaya employees who have ZERO clue why Avaya is avaya and what legacy it represents. Deeeep legacy. Means deeeep pension situation. Hellllloooo

How's this going to work? Avaya hasn't needed represented employees for 15 years. Gotta be a good reason they're still there, just can't think of one.

If I just took a vtp I'm definitely not picketing

VTP acceptance doesn't equate less onion membership. Just that they transition from in house to retiree. The CWA represents union members, with majority being retirees nowadays

I'm sure it's less now after the vtp

If so few members, then it's max 300 (member + spouse) who the contract would cover. Seems too small to battle. Why would Avaya fight it? Shefali Shahs Dec 2022 bonus cost more

Late to the Game?

🤔

  • Post states that members 'authorized' it should it come to that
  • Link in post clearly discussed extension.

Gaslighters need to be gaslighting. Can't help themselves. Same folks who declared bankruptcy was BS. As expected.

Late to the game cwa gave them a 30vday extension because of a storm... that might have been the only time avaya needed employees
