IBM’s executive management team’s failure to hold themselves or their middle management teams responsible for execution and performance is staggering. ZERO consequences for poor executive decisions and execution past or present needs to stop. Seems like AK is spending a whole lot of time fixing previous management mistakes (selling GTS, Watson Health, and Weather are just the latest iterations) and yet holding no one responsible for the 35% reduction in stock price and revenue. Meta just did a top to bottom review of their execution and performance and it resulted in a 30% reduction in management and employees as they decided they were overstaffed and under focused. IBM management needs to look in the mirror, and do a META. No more excuses IBM management. It’s time for your compensation and employment to be tied to sustained performance and execution. AK you can easily implement these changes and it’s about time you do as you have had plenty of time to fix the past mistakes
Name 3 things that are totally useless...
IBM Patents
IBM Badges
IBM Senior Executives
Those and $2.90 will get you on the NYC subway
So, Samsung is the new fool, filing useless patents
Never an IBM employee, but the patents we used to file at another employer were primarily to gain status within the company and pad the resume. None of them had any monetarily value and it would be impossible to determine whether someone were using our idea.

In reference to bathroom queuing patent mentioned in @ang+1oR2QpYL's post
IBM patents are similar to IBM Executives. There are a lot of them and they’re mostly worthless.
The vast majority of IBM patents have no market value…just hot garbage
Not worth a pile of dog tu-d
The quality of IBM’s patent portfolio is questionable. That statement actually applies to most of the top patent holders. It’s not the number of patents that any company owns, BUT the innovation of the patents that is important. Ginni and Sam didn’t understand that, so funded “more” patent investment vs “innovative” patent investment thus throwing good money after bad. AK may have turned the ship on that, tasking the lab to come up with innovative patents at the expense of “more patents”. If he did, that is actually a good part of the restructuring
IBM was awarded the bathroom queuing patent. It was embarassing. That is the quality of most IBM patents.
Most of IBM filed patents over the years can be considered gibberish, they are not related to any product delivered. Teams were built to do patents mining that generated useless ideas, It gave the illusion of having a smart workforce.
And with all those years of patents leadership IBM's leading nothing. ..
Seems like AK cut the expenses to pay for all those patents filed as their value of bragging IBM's the top patents leader is useless results just with a yearly PR on that and actually it is used to ask why with all that patents "innovation" IBM's revenues are declining. ... irrelevant patents on little changes of the same idea, no one cares other than to get the master investor medals and patents filing rewards money. ..
Not every time working hard pays off!
IBM is only getting most patents & not the most dollars!
It’s nowhere in the top companies that are earning most money and have highest market cap!
Just a 127 billion dollars of market cap!
While likes of Amazon, Microsoft, Apple have in trillions of dollars of market capitalisation!
