Okay, Boomer

Top 8 phrases that millennials hate when Boomers use them.

  1. Living The Dream

This is an expression that is typically used when someone is either feeling great about your current situation, or if you’re not feeling great about your current situation. Either way, millennials are over it and don’t care about your dreams apparently.

  2. Boys Will Be Boys

This is one is an old expression used as an umbrella explanation for anything a boy (man) does that there is really no good excuse for or reason, such as when boys decide it would be a swell idea to jump off the roof and into the swimming pool. Not smart, but boys will be boys!

  3. It Is What It Is

When you really don’t have much to say about a situation that might be out of your control, example, “wow, the price of eggs is crazy, but it is what it is”. For millennials they don’t believe that things are what they are and can change what it is.

  4. Pull Yourself Up By The Bootstraps

The phrase means to succeed without the help of someone else, for millennials it makes no sense, after all it’s physically impossible to pick yourself up by your bootstraps. The expression dates back to 1800’s when you actually had bootstraps to pull on.

  1. Welcome To The Real World

Millennials don’t like to be welcomed to the real world, because they feel like they’ve been in the “real world” their whole life, and when a Boomer uses the phrase, it’s probably after a complaint was lodged for whatever reason, say for instance, the amount of taxes taken out of their paycheck.

  2. Everything Happens For A Reason

This phrase assumes that their life is pre-ordained by a higher power, like God. Millennials are less likely to believe in that and don’t like to think that things happen for a reason, they prefer to think that sometimes things happen for no good reason.

  3. Money Can't Buy Happiness

Millennials don’t like this phrase for  a lot of reasons, they don’t like it when a Boomer says it because, they look pretty happy and why not? Their mortgage is probably close to being paid off and they might have a pretty happy life that money helped pay for. Plus. they’ve grown up watching the Kardashians life and they generally look pretty happy on their private jets.

  4. The Customer Is Always Right

Millennials have grown up being inundated with endless videos of customers (like airline customers) being very rude. They’ve seen people loose their minds at a fast food restaurant because they didn’t get enough fries in their bag. Let’s be honest, the customer is Not Always right, in fact they can be very wrong.
