Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

10/3 Tuesday looks highly likely

I had a few internal team things that happened today, but unfortunately I can't share those specifically.

But two things came to my attention that the target week is 10.3, and specifically 10/3 as the day:

  1. Two governance review boards were cancelled for that week. It occurs twice a week, and both were cancelled at the exact same time.
  2. Those cancellations came out within a few minutes of a real-estate update/announcement related to downsizing.
  3. The events above, by itself may not have been that big of a deal, but when add together the other things that happened which I can't talk about, it points that week. And 10/3 specifically as they like to do layoffs on a Tuesday.

@1rwa+1oPCZlzQ why are you saying it will start then and not end then? why did people say it would be this week not next week? why is anyone speculating at all?

because no one on this site knows and the transparency around it has been non-existent.

We found out it was happening literally months ago, and that was all the transparency there was.

Not sure why people are circulating next week as layoffs week. It is going to start after Q3 call.

Your SVO is not going to get cutoff if you are layed off. You will receive a meeting request. Or your manager will just ping you in IM and have join a video conference on the spot. You will be notified, and read a script on job elimination, details of severance, and so forth. You will be allowed to send goodbye emails after the call. Don't know how much time they give you for that.

Open enrollment for healthcare starts on the 10th. I’d think/hope they’d do it before then. Why torture us to make health care electives if we’re not going to be here anyway?

Everytime my SVO drops or struggles to connect I think

“Welp it’s finally happening “ and I start imagining what the severance package is gonna look like..

Maybe next week it won’t be able to reconnect… if only

So I still hear "hinting at layoffs", and "should happen in October". We all know this is going happen, and it is going to happen in October. Makes no sense for them to postpone past October. They want to get us off the books by end of year. They to make make sure the layoffs happen before RTO, to avoid any clown shows. It is going to happen in October, and it looks like it will happen sooner. If not next week, it will be the second week of October.

@1nqz+1oPCZlzQ I'm a different person in the same org but posted the clarification lol. Yes, it is the same talking points and just hints that there will be layoffs and reorg in DaRT. Another thing, MD also avoided the question "Will affected persons receive bonuses?" This tells us that the layoffs will have to happen in October to avoid the payout which has also been predicted but adds more support to that theory.

So, by announced, you mean relayed some information that is already known?

That’s the same announcement everyone has probably heard on all hands recently

To clarify for DaRT ( Data and Rep Technologies) the MD only raised the typical talking points about layoffs and no big news was dropped.

Maybe I can believe that a small handful of people know when layoffs will happen. What I refuse to believe is that no one knows details of major team changes resulting from layoffs. Surely small teams under redundant/unnecessary people leaders will be moved. I would really appreciate any explanation of what that could mean if someone wants to say without revealing the team names. Like confirm if you are already aware of reorg where a team will be combined with yours or whatever.

Let’s not allow petty squabbles to distract us from the true intent of this site

Speculating wildly….because a that’s all you can really do when everyone hears something different because EC doesn’t really know what “transparency “ means
