Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

Everyone I know is overwhelmed with work

How do they expect us to continue if they cut even more people?

I feel overwhelmed with work, but I recognize that none of my work has much of an impact on Schwab's bottom line or client experience. My 2-cents is that MDs are creating a lot of artificial urgency around their projects to make them seem more important than they are. CS could eliminate 75% of my department and most clients would not notice.

Given that there’s not going to be much of a bonus this year or next, and that raises will likely be minimal at best, the incentive for hard work is low. People will do enough to keep their jobs, but not much more than that. No one is going to k**l themselves for an extra $1K.

My theory is that by end of the year we'll have less $$'s which means less initiatives that can be funded and so overall less work. Whatever you working on may sound important, it's not.

Overall the reason I THINK we are all busy is for some reason companies start thinking they can make a baby in 1 months if they throw enough at it, this happens every couple of years as orgs get bloated and there are fake leaders in the chain who don't understand enough to say NO and they try to make baby in a month.

Agree with the sentiment here. I'll never recommend Schwab as a place to work.

I’ve never felt this overwhelmed before. There is so much work and even with overtime there are not enough hours to get it done and everyone wants their issue escalated NOW. We are days/weeks behind in work. I’ve never experienced anything on this level. Everyone is disengaged, morale is awful. It’s been a really miserable place to work.

No freaking clue. And most employees have been here less than 5 years (according to MD) so the knowledge and skill gap is REAL.
