Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

CNBC Report On Walt Stepping Down

CNBC had a segment this morning with the clickbait title of "Turmoil at Schwab," but provided some new information.

  • Walt was planning on retiring this year, but postponed it due to the Regional Bank Shenanigans.
  • Since the postponement, there is unease on next steps, as Walt has not provided a new timeline for his retirement
  • Schwab is discussing additional layoffs (on top of the layoffs that were already announced)

Any way to share the video more widely at Schwab? More employees need to see this.

Out of curiosity, how much do people in STS with 59 PL/TL make at Schwab?

It is Walt himself who leaked the news.

May God help us all. Walt is surely throwing another one of his temper tantrums about this leak and it's anyone's guess on how he'll take it out on all of us. One thing is certain: it won't be good for anyone.

@xhi+1oOWU2Ix I heard Dennis Howard is still very upset about blanket RTO so I wouldn't be surprised if he is a source.

@iam+1oOWU2Ix A lot of cnbc viewers are investors. Of course they’d want to know how the company is doing.

Holy cow. Our internal troubles are actually being reported by CNBC?! This feels oddly validating.

Funny we have to learn these things from CNBC. Whatever happened to "we're public, so we must communicate these things immediately"? More doublespeak from Walt himself. Resign or be removed by the board!

@eoh+1oOWU2Ix It was a live cast. Unless someone did a recording there is no way to listen to it.

It does explain why Walt’s so mad: his retirement got ruined.

Nothing new really. EOY layoff is only 80-85 percent of people they are cutting. First quarter next year they’ll take care of the rest, and when interest gets inevitably hiked they’ll have another layoff on top of that.
