I vote for PR smoke. Just look at those quotes.
Can someone copy and paste the article as its behind a pay wall?
Wow. Either Jayshree has joined the resistance (welcome!), or she is just blowing more PR smoke - could honestly be either one:
Some choice quotes:
- “We need to play big! I am interested in the next x-million-dollar opportunity.”
How many programs have been ki-led because it had a 95% chance $10M in OI instead of a 0.1% chance at $100M in OI. How many good programs were shuttered because 'they didn't move the needle'?
- “We are doing too many things. What we need is brutal prioritization.”
At least three current members of COC have said this exact phrase to me. Banovetz, Ashish, Monish for the record. It was also one of Mike Vale's favorite phrases, he said it in nearly every meeting I was in with him. Counting all the SVPs that regularly use this phrase would take a while.
- “What we need is lower cost products. And we need higher performance.”
This was the entire magical theory that 3M was so inefficient that costs could be cut in half with one Six Sigma project is the disease, I repeat that word disease, that will ki-l 3M.
That is written by Jayshree though.
