Yep, there is nothing wrong with a cheap, affordable starter car. IMHO the last one GM offered was the Aveo. Hopefully there will be something again like this in the future. It's not like anyone's dream car, but for young people starting out, it fits the bill perfectly.
I had a Chevette in High School and loved it! The unfortunate thing was that I also didn’t have a choice in learning about auto repair. :)
But it was a fun car. Great on gas and faster than most people think. In retrospect, the Dodge Omni with the Mitsubishi engine was probably a better choice. Those were on the road a decade after the Chevettes were last seen.
A lot of 80s kids got their start driving a Chevette.
I only buy Honda.
87 Buick Grand National was the best car by Buick.
87 Caprice with the 5.7 & 4 barrel carburetor
Big old Pontiac Parisienne Safari
Mid-late 80s Grand Prix, Monte Carlo SS, Olds Cutlass all awesome
86 Fiero with the V6 was cool
85 El Dorado, come on
Lots of great cars
There was not a car made by GM in the 80’s worth buying. It was a gap decade filled with junk.
I had a set of Cragar S/S Chrome Wheels on mine. Mine did not have positraction, so I did the one-wheel-peel down Gratiot.
