Thread regarding Hy-Vee layoffs

Time for a union

UAW is making major gains with the big 3 automakers. UPS workers won an amazing contract. Maybe it is time we unionize and start demanding a real share of the profits, not just the scraps they give us in bonus checks after the the executive suite gets paid their standard 12% return on the Hy-Vee stock only they can actively buy?

Too many companies in American are greedy. They want to make record profits every year on the back of their employee. They are causing people not to be able to live in America. The cost of living is out of control. Look up the avg household income in Iowa. It’s 64,000 dollars. That’s pathetic wage to raise a family. HyVee avg employee only makes 18 dollars an hour. HyVee is raising the prices but keeping its employed poor.

Too many people in America want to be taken care of, either by their government or their company, from cradle to grave. Two things prey on that mentality: corrupt unions and communists.

Management would literally burn the stores down before they would accept a union. No place hates unions like Hy-Vee hates unions.

This would by far be the best idea for workers. You can tell by how much management will try to fight it. They will literally waste profits telling you how much unions will sc--w you, instead of solving whatever problems you guys want fixed.

How do I know this? I used to be you, now I’m protected by a union, and my place of employment will need a lawyer to fire me. Weekends off, good contract.

It’s there for the taking, you just gotta make
the move

I retired from hyvee after 30 plus years.I would not recommend anyone to stay with that company. It used to be a great company years ago but that has all changed.Corporate supervision won't even speak to you in this day and age compared to years ago when Tom Watson,Tom Hobt,Ken Waller were around.Do not make hyvee a career. They have really went downhill.

They all have real strong unions. HyVee doesn’t even have a union. Trust me most unions these days are weak. Plus why would anyone want to work at HyVee for a career. If you plan on making HyVee a career you are a re--rd. Very few roles at store level pay well. Plus the hours are terrible for trying to have a family life. So what’s the point of staying at HyVee. Best thing for most people is to leave HyVee as soon as they can. I’ve double my salary in 3 years since I have left. I was a manager of and went to HyVee U. Worked HyVee for 13 years. When I look back I regret my time at HyVee. I wasted a good part of my life for a company that doesn’t care about or pay you well enough. Does anyone else feel like they have wasted their time at HyVee. I didn’t realize how bad HyVee was until I left. I only work 40 hours no weekends or holiday's
