Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

Weird atmosphere or natural decay

The atmosphere is weird and feels a lot like before major layoffs previously. Is something major coming? Or is it just the incompetence in leadership has finally come to roost, and the strange atmosphere is the company finally disintegrating under its years of shoddy leadership? Don’t forget to look up once in a while, despite what we are told.

The layoffs never end. What started in 2015 will continue. Not because of any external reason. It’s just policy now. Like Exxon for all those years. Got to make room for the cheap, young new hires we keep recruiting. They’re faster than you, better at adopting technology than you, and work for a lot less than you. All part of the plan. SPIRIT values!

The forward curve is in massive backwardation. Good luck.

What are you referring to? What’s this “weird atmosphere”, are people acting different, is there chatter about layoffs, is the cafeteria serving carbon neutral vegan lunches etc.?

It’s budget season and Q3 is wrapping up, so there may be more shuffling and meetings, but that’s normal. WTI is over $90, the sky definitely isn’t falling.
