Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

MD stepped down

My Managing Director suddenly abandoned their position and returned to a previous role at Schwab. I assume they had a heads up and did what was needed to stay with the company. Not much communication within the team… head in the sand. This certainly does not bring confidence to our team. Anyone else experienced something like this yet?

Despite claiming that they don’t know more than the employees, management definitely have more information than the average Joe.

In the 2019 layoffs a very recently promoted SVP, who had made quite a stink about getting promoted, was one of the first to be let go. She just did have an org structure that needed an SVP to run it. In this environment, I think it makes sense for someone not confident that they have a stable role to look for a way to survive.
