Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Ford Unifor contract rumors

Word on the street is that the UAW is not happy with Unifor with what they settled for and that there is NO Union solidarity across the border.
Look at the differences in communication and it is not hard to see why.
Word on the street is Unifor took the 20%, increased pension contributions, reduction in tiering and promise of new product at all facilities when appropriate.
No 32 hr work week either.
Word on the street is Mr UAW Prez is furious.
Interesting.

Ratified, 54% in favor. Not good.

New Unifor contract is out in the media now. Sounds pretty good, ratification vote results out tomorrow.

fsm+1oHHx2Db UNIFOR is a conglomeration of several Canadian unions. The CUAW disbanded and joined UNIFOR when it's membership dropped to an insignificant level of influence.

You GOP Trump Humpers on here are hilarious.

Do you actually work for Ford and believe this garbage you spew? Or are you so caught up in your Fox ‘news’ echo chamber that you pattern your life after Tucker Carlson?

This company drops salary workers like it’s a bad habit, at any time and for no reason. If you need proof, because I know that FACTS are hard for all of you, just look at the past few years.
The UAW has at least had protections against actions such as those for decades now. You only wish and dream that you had the same protections.

Yet you still root for these billionaires (which you are not and never will be, not even close) to prosper and win in these negotiations.

Get your head out of Tucker’s a-s and Trump’s third chin and wake up to the reality of what’s going on in this company and the industry.

Unifor is the name of the Canadian autoworkers union. Similar to UAW in USA.

Fain has painted himself into a corner. If he accepts any offer less than what he's been blustering about, and presents to UAW membership for ratification, why would they vote in favor? Otherwise, if he holds out for his ridiculous demands, Tesla and US transplants (that use nonunion labor) will win, since they'll have an even greater labor cost advantage over the Detroit Three.

No no no. Don't give in to the UAW. Let them stoke for the next 3 months.

Get rid of the Union and the company will be prosperous.

When it's over they can source to where they can make the best margins. That's how it works.

I’ve heard this as well. Canadians know they have to compete with Mexico, not try to fight CEOs.

Sorry but What is Unifor?

Promise of future product is really what Unifor wanted. That's really what should be the key. Everything else is icing on the cake.

Unifor contract still needs to be ratified. Three Unifor tentative agreements have already failed ratification this year, so wait and see. Unifor members know what the UAW is asking for and what the companies have offered.

32 hour work week is a pipe dream, not happening.

That is exactly what I heard.
Similar to how the UAW workers on strike making diddly are not happy with Mr Bigshot UAW prez who also collects full wages.
