Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

Anybody else bored stiff?

I have so little to do it’s making me crazy. I feel like I’ve fallen through some realignment cracks or something. I do put myself out there & try to take on more stuff but so far the last few weeks have been a wasteland. Last time this happened at another job 5 or 6 yrs ago we got laid off. OTOH several friends are crazy busy.

If you are bored then you should come to some of our bootlicking fest meetings. It definitely got worse past few weeks. It really starts to show how clueless the management people are in our dept. The cringe is off the charts. If not the layoffs it would be funny. Us, little people we are just trying to survive. Please let be over soon.

We have a lot of work “potentially” coming in preparation for what they are referring to as a “disruption” to work…

However, we haven’t been told anything past “hey get ready to do this soon”…

Less work equals more time to speed up layoff process etc. they need to get it done before holiday season which starts on the day of Halloween. It is not just the layoffs but after effects of it like re aligning the teams. My guess is they won’t wait till October mid. Layoffs might start this month end.

@utm+1oGGfZey Now that integration is over I think there is less work in general for everyone.

@szf+1oGGfZey The thing is I wasn't until recently! Sure everybody has slow days but this amount of them is new. I am 100% searching for a new job though & hope to leave in the new year even if I don't get laid off.

I came over from the Green side and I feel like they’re working us nonstop till we just give up and quit or the calls die down so they can axe our positions.

I’ve never been busier in all my years at Schwab. I work non stop from the moment I log in until I log out and I’m putting in overtime. My team hasn’t been in service in months. Everyone on my team is burned out and overwhelmed. We are definitely not bored

Why do you think they’re making cuts now? Redundancies.

Never been busier, but not with Schwab work. Until they get their heads out of their collective as--s I am doing the bare minimum required of me. And spending the rest of my workday taking walks, working out, learning new skills online, applying for jobs, etc. If you can, I suggest you do the same.

For me it is mixed bag. Sometimes I have very little to do except lame documentations but suddenly I get so inundated with work that I have to work overtime to complete everything on time. I think the sprints are not planned very well.
