Hey Siri, do companies that make record profits every quarter lay people off and close innovation centers for no reason?

Hey Siri, do companies often close locations where workers try to unionize?

People who are NOT union make less money and pay more for simple benefits. Silly. Just stand up for yourself for once and reach for the fair wage you have worked for. Joining a union is not that difficult.

Does anyone remember what the News and Free Press strike from the 90s was about? I remember it going on, but I don't recall what it was about.

Strike is a good thing. It just speeds up the eventual death of legacy automotive. Theyare light years behind on the Ev drivetrain and will never catch up to pure Ev propulsion companies. And yes union fools your president brain dead in DC is more than fine wiping you out in the accelerated push to EV. You all on death row and too blind to see where you stand

Have you seen the plant workers?
I am surprised they aren't asking for free insulin!
It will take a wheelchair to make them strong.

Speaking of asking for free things - the 32-hour work week and pensions are non-starters.
So many for decades neglected to put anything into their 401ks and now they want someone to come to the rescue with a tax-payer supported pension. It's both ignorant and entitled. If the big 3 agree to these things, they will quickly go out of business. Everyone knows this and to ask for these things, especially the pension really lets everyone know that it's extortion and robbery. The UAW will be the most hated & resented organization in America by the time the strike ends. Stay strong! ha ha ha SMH

A lot of politicians want to cut Social Security instead of just removing the cap on income subject to the tax.

The average Social Security recipient makes $21k a year, the greedy jerks.

A cut will show them who's boss.

The day of pensions in the US is gone. They're too expensive, and a lot of legacy companies that still have them underfund them and then dump them on the taxpayers rather than honor their promises.

Nowadays you're actually lucky to have a 401k.

Most people don't even have those. All they'll have is Social Security when they get old.

40% raise takes one making $16/hr to $22.40/hr. I think such is a fair pay for the hourly assembler. The job is a tedious, boring, job- on your feet all day. And don’t forget, they’ve gone “into the office” throughout COVID, while the office engineers are STILL primarily working from home.

40% raise coupled with $32/hr week is actually more than 40% raise - it's called UAW GREED. There's a bunch of feeder plants that depend on one GM plant and when a GM plant shutdown, guess what happens to thouse hourly folks in the feeder plants? They're paid less than half of these UAW fat boys who are mostly sitting on their stools all day waiting for the cars to come to their stations, it's not like the 60's anymore, Everything is made easier for them. Teachers actually have more difficult jobs than these UAW, and yet all they do is whine! So imagine running a gas station that you bought with your friends and family, and you're the manager, and they're all investors in your gas station. You hired these guys as help and they told you they want the same compensation as you and they will only work 4 days a week. What's your response gonna be? I

I don't think they'll get pensions or the 32 hour work week, but I think they'll get the rest of what they asked for.
