Thread regarding Ford layoffs

OEMs should lock it y the UAW until contract is signed

The OEMs are d-mb. These targeted strikes are a ploy. They will disrupt things, but the other workers will continue to be paid. This will extend the Big 3s pain.

If the OEMs lock out the UAW, the UAW strike fund will be depleted much quicker. Forcing them to settle.

It’s not d-mb for either side. For the union, dues continue to fill the strike fund coffers. The OEM’s continue to run the production lines. I believe that every car that goes through the status 400 hut is considered sold, so the bottom line is padded. As for layoffs, at least in Michigan, the UAW workers laid off do not collect unemployment since the layoff was caused by the action of their union. Notice Ford’s comments about the situation at MAP. There is a reason for it.

Factory workers out of work because of lack of parts don’t draw money from the UAW strike fund. As another commenter said, they just go on unemployment, and then Ford has to pay more into that.

No because the laid off UAW workers will file unemployment.
