Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

Laid off 2000 factory workers!? Blamed Wentzville.

https://www.freep.com/story/money/cars/2023/09/15/ford-gm-temporarily-lay-off-workers-at-plants-affected-by-uaw-strike/70868281007/

There is the link. So because of the plant strike at the wentzville faculty, GM “temporarily” laid off 2k at another factory and blames the strikers. Can someone confirm? Is this a legit source?

The parrot mimics again!
Still no evidence of higher-level thinking. Disappointing.

Why lose money on American CEO when you can save money on one from India/China/Brazil.

They're cheaper since the cost of living there would be lower.

Narcissist and sociopaths don’t learn anything. Those are the people serving on SLT…you kinda have to have some of theirs negative traits to get that high on the ladder (which a helping of nepotism and networking).

GM's only leverage is plant layoffs.
I don't know anyone that can pay their bills with less than $350 a week.
It's a way to inflict a great amount of pain on the workers and strike fear.

Maybe resentment of Mary's salary can pay the bills. Does anyone know?

GM will still have to pay the $362/week of unemployment in MI, and different amounts in other states.

Mary makes 29 million a year, millions more than the Ford and Stellantis CEOs.

Mary Barra is crying she only made 8 figures. Maybe she will learn her lesson on barging about all that record profit. Where did all that money go?

GM stock is below what it was worth when it first opened in 2010. Multiple layoffs while she's been CEO. By next number they will just over hire again.

I hope the UAW gets everything they demand. A Chevy Tahoe in a dress rebadged as an Escalade is only requested at 6 figures just because Barra can't get that ninth figure in her check for the year.

Mary will be demissed very soon. Stock is worthless and the volume is down.

Record profit must all be a lie.

the more UAW leadership tries to squeeze out of Big 3, the more the Big 3 will be inclined to create factories outside of US which is bad for the economy. Imagine, why lose money on UAW leadership when you can create a manufacturing plants in India/China/Brazil/ or any country and get tax incentives.

Plus labor would be cheaper since the cost of living there would be lower.

Big three should use scorched earth strategy and layoff every UAW factory worker. Why giving UAW the upper hand by letting them pick which factory to strike and which doesn't? See how long their strike fund will last. Worst case big three will go bankrupt. Then we all know what's going to happen - bailout, re-structure, maybe acquired by foreign investors like the Chinese automakers. But the point is the UAW leeches will be a thing of the past.

i feel sorry for those plant workers as they got fired because of their UAW president. I wish he was never elected.

now, UAW doesn't need to pay those people using their own uaw strike fund. Now, they can pay them using taxpayer's money to get them paid. That's a big W for UAW

LFG UAW!
