Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Morale is in the toilet here; there is no long term future here unless things really change

People are barely doing the minimum, there is no culture and collaboration. One person who I didn't know well but he was way smarter and hard working than me was canned in June.

Really dont understand the point of trying to go above and beyond when the upside is just a mediocre pay raise and more work and the downside is getting canned even after putting in 60 hour weeks

Sounds like someone back stabbed him. Management encourages and make decisions about people based on rumors and hearsay.

I saw a LL5 (of his) talk to an employee and the LL5 was very pleasant to him, when the employee left the LL5 told me that he was a lazy id--t. Even though the employee had been recognized by a LL4 for saving the company MILLIONS for dollars on special projects the employee volunteered! Very unprofessional, I was put in a awkward situation. The LL4 was outside the org.

THIS IS NOT HIGH SCHOOL.

Why is morale is in the toilet?

Learn as much as you can. Build a resume of tangible experience. Even if you are not currently rewarded for your talent, long hours and good work at Ford, that experience and knowledge gained is only wasted if you decide not to advance in your career some place else. That someplace else is a fresh start so don't forget to get your work/life balance back in order when you get there.

I know this sounds cliche, but I have been in your shoes. Believe me, you can and will succeed if you make a plan, always work with integrity and focus on where you want to go in your next step. Most of my colleagues left the auto industry over the years. It used to be the money and benefits were a sort of "golden handcuff." Not so much anymore. I learned that, although I truly loved the business at one time, there are many excellent alternatives that I discovered to be just as exciting.

I wish all of you well!

OP,

"getting canned even after putting in 60 hour weeks "

That is a big regret in the future when you realize how much time was spend away from family, friends and just home life. For nothing.

There are no careers any more, just gig jobs, remember what is important in life.
