Thread regarding Ford layoffs

How are we going to fund the EV transition if MAP is on strike?

Asking for my friend Doug in California. Guys, I am 100% with the UAW here. How can we go from a single income supporting a household to dual incomes not being enough? These rich a--holes view us no different than farm animals (just like kings and queens of yesteryear). The UAW should strike all OEMs, all plants, but they got their arm twisted by Dark Brandon. And if it all fails so what? Like staying on the course we were on was going to result in a better outcome. The middle class is vanishing, if we do nothing it will be gone. Therefore I stand with the union.

@ 1kfe+1oC2qlfz Farley, I thought you’d watch Newsmax.

@1wqj+1oC2qlfz Republican presidents since Carter have grown the deficit more than Democratic presidents. Unfortunately there are no financial "conservatives" left in the GOP.

I agree with @1wqj+1oC2qlfz.

I keep the Fox News channel on in my house 24 hours a day. Someone is always around to watch. Plus it teaches my kids while they're young.

I don't care about the poor people everyone is talking about. My father happened to be very wealthy and paid for my college and first house and also multiple rental properties that I run and collect the profits. But that doesnt mean that some poor person or minority had it tougher than I did. Frankly, it is the wh!te men in this country that are the most discriminated against! Just watch Fox News and you'll understand.

@moq+1oC2qlfz

Don't worry, it'll trickle down any minute now!

@1wqj+1oC2qlfz

You genuinely believe that is a conservative policy that benefits the poor?

@moq a “conservative policy that benefits the poor” is not spending money we don’t have, running deficit budgets, and borrowing money from China. You need an education on government spending and to turn off CNN and MSNBS.

Many of you think conservatives support the working class?! Hoo boy, the disinformation machine at Fox News really has a hold on all y'all.

I cannot understand how disadvantaged people would vote against their own interests. Name me a conservative policy that benefits the poor... that includes rural folk, just not people of color. The GOP is the party of greed and power, who pretend to be holy (with a good helping of grievance posturing) to keep the grift alive.

The Bronco at MAP is a recall machine, I am not sure that it adds much revenue to the companies bottom line like the F150. Remember when we built 400000 Explorers a year in 3 plants? A time when you could spec and get the vehicle you wanted. The annual output of Broncos is fewer than 100000 a year, because of JIT, parts shortages and quality holds on parts. The company cannot manufacture what customers order and has consequently restricted model variants and options a consumer can pick. With all the wait time and product issues why would any buy a Bronco? Seems like a bad strike target.

"How can we go from a single income supporting a household to dual incomes not being enough?"

Some of this is in a lack of financial education. The number of new Broncos and F150s I see in the parking lot at the plants tells me that the issue isn't entirely on the income side of the equation.

Rich people and conservatives hate unions, though. They're always going to push back against unionization.

Fortunately, police and autoworkers have been unionized long enough that their political leaders don't push back against them - most police and autoworkers are very conservative republican voters. The UAW is on the cusp of formally changing their endorsement to more conservative candidates.

@mes+1oC2qlfz Rich people can do good things as well. Look at what HF1 did for Michigan, without him Michigan would be another Iowa. The problem is billionaires like Musk, Buffet, Bezos, etc. These a--holes sit on their horde of money and play a game. Gates is probably the worst. You need checks and balances to control greed, as a species it’s our largest short coming.

Crony capitalism creates oligarchs.
In that system, the government picks the winners and losers, and protects the winners with laws, policies and regulations. The lawmakers and enforcers get their cut, of course.

Crony capitalism limits competition that would bring down prices, improve quality and improve efficiency.

“Rich people” and companies do things we want done. If they don’t get the money they want, they will go do something else, then we will have to pay more for what we want from those still left that provide those things.

If you tax those people so the government can provide “free” goodies, companies and the rich people who own them just pass that cost along to their customers and employees. If they can’t, they go do something else. I suppose we could make slaves out of them, but slavery was abolished a few years ago. So what it comes down to is that all this free stuff the government is giving everyone is provided by the hardworking folks who do productive things.

And that’s why a two-income family of productive workers can’t make ends meet these days.

Just think how much more money and buying power the uaw workers would have had if they all did not vote for inflation via democrat in 2020.
