Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

RTO Cafeteria Hours

Anyone know with the RTO if they will extend cafeteria hours? We have to take our lunch when Schwab says we do. Our lunch schedule can even change the same day. Sometimes I completely miss any window to get food with how my lunch is scheduled. I just can’t really afford to spend $30 to door dash food.

Give it a couple of weeks and it will be a 1:8 adult/manager to child/individual contributor ratio

@osp+1oBYrdMC you've got one thing right in comparing this to a supervised childcare with a 1:4 adult/manager to child/individual contributor ratio. I prefer companies that are more comparable to a college classroom; show up if you wish, just get the job done. But hey, if you want to be a slave to the man that's your choice. Enjoy snack time, nap time, constant supervision and timeouts come January 1.

@pfy+1oBYrdMC Stop using phone. We didn’t have it decades ago anyway.

@pfy+1oBYrdMC man up, go back to work and stop crying. Until the cafeteria closes, then the company doesn't care about us. This place makes me sick.

Says folks who before 2020 never knew what work from home was and now complaining like kids for going back to work. Even kids who were studying from home have gone back to school. Should we say man up and not cry like kids.

“Are we working for a Fortune 500 or a daycare?”

Based on 95% of what is posted on this site, I would say a daycare.

Ok, I see the point now. Food is necessary for life, and for us to live, therefore where we get lunch on RTO is definitely important. Well I have great news. Any Schwab facility that has a cafeteria, will be open 24 hours. And all the food will be free. You won't starve. This is some of the best news I have heard in a long time. Woohoo. Woohoo. No $30 door dash. No worries.

yeah, without food you can survive. may be you worry about going back to office which you were doing before 2020. for other real world folks, we care about if with RTO the cafeteria will handle all the additional head counts and whether we need to plan. Just the usual trolls that think world revolves around them

@wyr+1oBYrdMC totally agree. Many companies don't even have cafeterias yet this is on top of OPs list of worries. OP is as out of touch as the EC.

I don't see how you were ever hired. Your priority of what to worry about is totally messed up. Where I am going to get lunch, what the cafeteria hours are upon RTO, is the furthest thing from most normal staff member's minds.

You need to be downvoted. For someone having to go to office daily and that too with tough schedules, they need to be worried . May be you dont eat and are only cared about family and finances . May be you would produce your own food. But for others who need food to sustain this is one of the concerns.

Grab a PB&j from the campus store? Are you serious? Were you one of the employees that helped formulate the brilliant idea to give everyone cookies from sugarwish as a thank you for our hard work? Are we working for a Fortune 500 or a daycare?

Can we please downvote the OP, for being so far off point. I mean seriously. Between potential conflicts and struggles due to family with RTO, and impending layoffs that will affect our livelihoods, where I am going to get lunch is not on my priority list. It's not on any list, and frankly I could care less.

In this economy, I would personally pack a lunch.

Wow y'all are rude!

OP, I haven't heard anything about cafe hours changing, but we may hear more as we get closer to RTO time. Wouldn't hurt to inquire with leadership or facilities in the meantime. I think there are some location specific Teams chats you could put your question in as well.

Not sure what location you're in, but I know some campuses have the little "stores" with a limited selection of food to choose from. Not a hot meal, certainly, but at least pre-pandemic they had a genuinely tasty PB&J option, so there's always that.

Be thankful you have a job. Focus on what you can control; lunch is not one of them.
