Thread regarding 3M layoffs

HCBG townhall

Can 3M keep Bryan as its ceo and find a new one for HCBG? Nice to hear real transparent words not drafted by someone else.

Re: MP, definitely not. I remember "ex-GE", which rang alarm bells in my head. Many who didn't know where he came from thought he was a good speaker, telling it as it is. But they were hoodwinked because they were comparing MP to MR, so it felt like there was more transparency from MP, which we know is BS.

Remember that Monish was a "breath of fresh air" when he first arrived as well........ and then we started to see his actions. Always easy to come into something new and create a "culture". But can he sustain it when there are tough actions to take??

Looking forward to its new SpinCo name. Hope it’s not 3M Healthcare.

The good thing is that being external and a CEO at Zimmer, he doesn't treat MR as his "superior". Was good to see a few jabs thrown by Bryan during the intro event:

  1. MR talking so much that his could finish his mint
  2. Acknowledging that wrong decisions are made and changing it to get back to the correct decision
  3. Calling out that Strategy and Execution are useless if People, Purpose and Culture are not established first.

He said his 90 day goal is to establish the culture of Spinco, which is different to previous leaders who would have said that they would learn how the business operates, assimilate into the existing culture etc. Bryan's key difference here is that he can see the culture that we have is not the type that suits a medical device company. And if people are not fitting the culture, they should be moved out, even if they were high performers. It's the total opposite to the incompetent 3M top management that we have been forced to endure in the past years.

Good talk … let’s see his actions over the next 12 months! Remember that talk is cheap! Actions matter!

I really hope he sees through the layers of cr-ppy managers in Spinco and they either change or get tossed. He can try all he wants to be positive but unless it trickles down nothing in HCBG will change. If walks the talk he gets my support and time will tell.

Fingers crossed that MP, PG, JB, and IS all get moved to SpinCo so Bryan can fire their a$$e$.

Such a big contrast. When Mike speaks, I felt so depressed, but once it was handed over to Bryan for his opening, it changed my mood totally. All the best to SpinCo.

Very charismatic speaker compared to what are are used to at 3M. From body language alone and facial expression you can a sense of the night and day difference between leadership style and personality.

I would not judge him completely off of his introduction speech - as this could be practiced and rehearsed, but I did pay particularly close attention to the Q&A session to see how he holds himself with questions thrown at him. So far so good.

Time will tell with the spinco and if it'll be successful but definitely a breath of fresh air versus the dull, monotonous, stale townhalls we have been used to for the past couple years.

Hope remain co leadership is taking note. Maybe take some speaking lessons, have a pulse, pick up a Tony Robbins book, or actually be open and transparent with your team. Lets start with being open at divisional, country, and regional level and announcing "All clear" on restructuring when completed so we do not continue have to work in anxiety and deteriorating mental health.

Once Vale gets back in charge, 3M shares will supercharged.

I skipped and fast forward the Mikey portion and eager to hear from the new spinco CEO. What a refreshing change!

Wasn’t it refreshing to hear someone speak directly to the audience rather than espousing meaningless business jargon. I hope that he will be able to shake things up and transform spin co for the better.

It seems like he’s already made a mark by vetoing the chosen Spinco name. Must have been linked to 3M, otherwise why push back so strongly? This in itself gets my thumbs up.

Keep Bryan away from the toxic contamination of Roman and his battalion of miscreants.

Can the board oust Roman and Monish? I would almost guarantee just with a change in leadership voice 3M Morale and attitudes would rally. Roman and Monish are beyond stale hateful leaders.

I feel like there's gonna be a mad rush of Remainco staff desperately scrambling to get with Spinco now.

A real breath of fresh air! First time in many years seems like there may be hope! A leader people actually want to follow.
