Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Senior Director and above meeting this morning

I believe there was a meeting of Senior Directors and above earlier this morning attended by Betsy. It was said in the meeting that we will know our fate at the end of this month (August). The usual 3 options:

Gone, 6 month transition or Stay

Did anyone else hear this.

So if layoff email goes out 1st sept, does it mean the layoffs are done by VMWare not by BCOM.

In that case, severance is going to be till 1st Nov that is 2 months. Right ?

Thank you for that info. Do we know if there are different timeframes of transitions? 6 months, 1 year, or more? Or is everyone just getting 6 months?

I'm a Director. Even before this morning meeting, my VP already informed that notice of our fate will be delivered on September 1st by HR email. We don’t know names of those in our teams who will be gone/stay/transition. Those were chosen by VP using input from their leaders.

It is a good action by VMware to give people notice 2 months before close. Goal is maximize severance of those that will depart. Not all companies do this.

Another key info for those who will be told to stay, with exception of product engineers: most will be re-badged to a service provider after transition. This will not be optional.

Can any managers or higher speak to whether they've been told anything yet? Please be transparent (at least here)! Would be very appreciated

May I ask: where did you hear this from?

Not surprising considering the business insider leak
