Is it true that there are still over 35k FTE left? Are we all staying for severance or hoping for a permanent offer? I know circumstances differ for everyone. I stayed because I have several options should I be unfortunate or fortunate (depending on how you feel about the deal) enough to get the bye it’s been nice to know you letter.

Attrition has everything to do with the person you report to directly. Our Director in the is a company lifer and lacks imagination. Every 1:1 meeting with him is so draining. Frankly, I won't miss being in this environment where everyone is just going thru the motions.
I'm ready to leave now.
Who's "we"? Can you provide more context? Is this documented anywhere?
Relax, people. It won’t be that bad. We heard yesterday news about WFH: Only at the headquarter are people requested to work from the office, and not necessarily 5 days a week.
I have no interest in working for BC. I’m waiting for mu severance, retention and RSUs to pay out so I can find a real job
Looking to start my own business and don’t care for a full time offer from BC. Took this opportunity to come up with a good plan and strategy for the business. Now waiting for severance.
I’ve been at VMware a long time and was planning to retire anyway, so the acquisition will provide a nice 6+ months severance bonus that I would have not received otherwise. I don’t want a full time job offer, but being retained for some transitional work or not joining Broadcom on day 1 would be great.
Same. I do have financial stability so can afford to wait this out.

37,655 employees as of 8/14/23. Down from 40,225 on 7/29/22.
So far have stayed during a casual/selective job search in a tight tech market. Also have several options and good financial stability. Still angling for good timing on a transition that includes VMW severance and retention bonus then straight to a new gig, but it wont be the end of the world for me if that doesn't happen either.
Show me the money and show me the door. I'll even let it hit my fat a-s on the way out!
