Thread regarding Ford layoffs

More new hires today, but only c-suite

Does this company even hire ground level workers anymore?!?!?!?

If you want to bar fff a few times a week, make sure you subscribe to Personnel Announcement emails. What are all these directors even needed for?!?!? And most of them are new hires from the outside!

This is the most management top heavy automotive company of all time.

Game of thrones. Notice how experienced employees, especially those with pensions are NOT being promoted. Yet they are hiring in "Directors" with little to no qualifications. You can thank the Tech industry for the title inflation trend.

They did this several years ago - hired a bunch of people and then, a year later, let go those who were 50+ and had a pension. It's all about numbers. Even if some of the newbies leave because of attrition, you still have enough for the massive layoffs.

And to think, a year or so ago, they were talking about how they had to flatten management to make it easier, and reduce red tape.... Ford is running itself into the ground. I got laid off in August, but talking to my local dealer, things are looking bad on the ground level. Real bad.

They hate management, they hate the quality, they hate the new field structure, they hate it all. And this was from a dealer that was extremely Ford Positive a year ago.

When I was a manager in GDIA they WANTED to bring in 'the butcher, the baker, and the candle-stick maker' because they didn't want anyone with experience to see through their fake data charade. It's easier to control ignorant people - just look at America if you doubt that statement. Here's an actual conversation I overheard betwixt 2 LL5s regarding a new-hire:
LL5a: "Do they know anything about data ?"
LL5b: "Nope."
LL5a: "Great - just how we like 'em !".

The speaking in riddles comment just made me laugh a lot! Hackett was a real hoot- I could never make it past 2-3 sentences max before deleting those story time emails he used to send out!

Does Ford motor company want to be a CAR company or is it pretending to be something else?? Having just purchased an F-250 truck I can tell you that I don’t give a hoot about their ridiculous “connected” experience.

Just give me the Automobile please & stop trying to pretend to be something that I can get 1000% better on my I-Pad much easier.

Also, quit hiring former Apple (Peter Stern) or Google execs thinking that will give you street cred as an IT company.

Seriously, I’ve stopped all purchases of Ford vehicles and switched back to Lexus & German manufacturers after my disappointment over past 6 months with the “self-park/tow” capabilities of this vehicle.

My advice to Ford management: just try to get the Vehicle mechanics & engineering correct. Stop wasting $$$ on your IT fantasy and put those dollars into your ENGINEERING STAFF.

Be a Car company again… if you can.

Hire executives from outside to cover for the ones there that don’t know what they’re doing. Then the ones that get hired, after few years showed that they don’t know what they’re doing either and then again hire more from out side to cover for the useless executive layers. They never get rid of the executive deadwood they just keep on adding on to the wood, deadwood, pile. That’s why F has twice the number of executives than GM.

JF is just following the genius moves from his predecessor (Hackett) in hiring externally. JF will soon start talking in riddles as well.

Jim is like an inept sports General Manager who brings in 'elite talent" but doesn't understand why the team isn't winning......

We have nobody in the management ranks that is qualified to run a manufacturing company. Most aren’t qualified to do the jobs they are supposed to be doing. This contributes to all of our failures. There is more backstabbing than mentoring.
