It's obviously Monish didn't wow the board during his finest hour of cutbacks. Lavers is clearly Healthcare CEO. With Vale gone, time for the board to hire the most decisive guy left: peter.

Like Gibbons or not, he is passionate and decisive and visionary. Everything Roman is not.

What's left to lose at remainco?

You can’t have a wrinkle in your whole brain if you think the amount of money it takes to provide free coffee is even on the same order of magnitude as a capital improvement or major maintenance. Just an all around stupid thing to say.

I wasn't sold on Pete at first either but seeing his vision for 3M and not repeating the same mistakes like throwing money at the problem is refreshing. The production plants have plenty of cash that they waste on free food and coffee for meetings that could be used to fix broken equipment. Priorities!!!!

His CEO experience along with massive Supply chain knowledge is what remainco needs if it has a chance to survive.

As for his temper, it was understandable when people callously alleged that his son was somehow the reason he chose Kearney. That's bs and you know it. I'd be mad too. The Kearney people have made some major positive changes like ki-ling A3M that was promoted by Accenture and McKinsey.

Yea, this is an awful idea. I'm not ruling the board out from doing it, but it is really awful.

The man isn't qualified for the job he currently has. His performance at 3M has been at best mediocre, more honestly poor. If you are a under two years into a job and hiring consultants for new ideas... that is not good.

Seriously, at this point the board has two choices:

  • Hire someone like Pete or Monish to guide RemainCo into bankruptcy and irrelevance.

or

  • Break out the checkbook and go hire someone actually qualified who will grow 3M back to better days.

Unfortunately, I think our "illustrious" board has chosen the former...

PG mentioned in town hall that the plants need to make it work on whatever he changes. Otherwise, watch out. he will keep lay off people till it works. With a leadership like this, it’s a poor strategy and threatening people. You need to make it work or I will keep changing. This guy has no vision.

Tireman does NOT inspire at all! Just go listen to his townhall. In one of the session, he even lost his cool when probed on conflict of interest issues. Imagine if he was facing the investors during earning calls. It would be the end of 3M.
