Not a popular opinion but I do admire their business model. They are focused on the main thing :-P and that is longevity and profitability. I don’t think I’d survive all the rounds of layoffs because we are a bloated company but if they keep me I’d be happy and if they do not I’m also happy to move on.

Much needed change in the EUC marketing org. From the top down.
Maybe it is the american vs europoean/asian mentaliy.
No it's just bad VMware management. If VMW cared so much about market share at the expense of everything, why didn't they go after Nutanix? A total copycr@p product that VMW could have destroyed. Should have destroyed. Pat stated he wanted them destroyed!
Instead, VMware management watches as Nutanix steals our customers, one nibble at a time. Focus on the main thing? Beating the competition IS the main thing!
But not in Silicon Valley. Sunshine, rainbows, and decreasing market share all around!
I couldn't agree more, I have been speaking with some friends over at Broadcom Software group and I was in awe of the business model it makes total sense. Yes unpopular opinion but it does. If you are obsessed with market share at all cost then vmware model is fine, but if you want profitability at the expense of a bit of market share the broadcom model makes total sense. Reminds me of the time GM sold Opel/Vauxhall in the UK after making billions of dollars of loss, and PSA Peugeot bought them and turned them around in the same year, and all they did was cut production. You lose market share obviously but profitability is quick. Maybe it is the american vs europoean/asian mentaliy.
The VMW south east Asian caste-like system that has protected inept VPs and Directors will be dismantled by Broadcom. This transition will create new opportunities, as the key core leadership teams are re-staffed with a new meritocracy set of qualification criteria.
It's all good much-needed change that will disrupt the current organization status quo.
I 100% agree.... i know two people who work for BC Software. It should be a good place to work if you survive the inevitable and significant cuts that are coming. But it will be a tough 12 months of layoffs, increased natural attrition and re-org after re-org after re-org...
