the 10k number floating around these past weeks seems about right.
If you survive, we were told no more reductions are expected this year. I am sad for those that were let go.
Today's carnage should be wrapping up.

Our managers let go today and now we have a team meeting 4-4:30 today . I feel like a sitting duck!
Are they calling people individually to notify them that they have been laid off or in groups?
Read somewhere that layoff meetings take place from 10am - 2pm central. Anyone know if that’s true?

"Okay so I’m afraid rumors are true. It was confirmed to me from a good source. I’m not usually lost for words but today I am"
Can you elaborate? What rumors? I hate these cryptic messages. Please just write your thoughts out so we all know whats going on... This is what this site is for no?
People getting paid in the bottom 1/3 of their grade range seem to be fairing better. If you have 5+ years of pay increases and merit raises in role, you're in danger.
@lsf+1o2cpJFa
This analysis matches what I'm seeing. So far this is another bloodbath for the grade 28 and up crew, and worse if you have over 10 years in.
The only lower grades I've heard about were in sales/marketing or onshore production roles, which have been on life support for 5+ years at this point.
Okay so I’m afraid rumors are true. It was confirmed to me from a good source. I’m not usually lost for words but today I am.
So far I’ve see A few patterns that seem to be consistent across all of the people who got laid off:
- Many of the company that were acquired in overlaps some of the optum business areas continue to get let go
- Individuals that have been in the company for over a decade that I’m assuming has tons of money in stock, options, bonuses, etc..
- Roles that could be easily automated or replaced with someone offshore.
Just got out of a last minute meeting... 2 Market VP's eliminated today. Everyone on the call was holding their breath... Sad day
the doc is a PDF on Sparq, you use search to find it. It has a chart in it.
I'm noticing a lot of layoffs for those who have been here a long time. Dare I say close to retirement age? Literally the worst time to fire someone!! Can anyone else confirm? Anyone seeing a pattern?
@gvx+1o2cpJFa
When i got RIFd a few years back, they did withhold the taxes. Tried to opt out, but no dice.
@hjc+1o2cpJFa
search severance in sparq. There's a page that links to a severance pay plan pdf
Well it’s official. I have now joined the ranks of people who have been let go. My last official day on the company payroll is 8/24. I’ll get a lump sum payout of 18 weeks plus whatever PTO (up to 40 hours) that was in my PTO bank. It was an 11 year run. In this day and age, I’d say that was pretty damn good.
I’ll be ok. I’ve climbed my way back out of some pretty bad sh-t over these few years…sh-t that makes this news pale in comparison. Lots of people here seem to be angry about this news. I’m not. Sure it su-ks. But I learned a lot in my 11 years. About me professionally. And about me personally. And no matter what happens now, UHC / Optum can never take that away from me.
Spent some time saying goodbye to the people on Teams that I care about.
Even though I’ve been expecting this, not going to lie. I shed a few tears as I signed out of my UHC account for the last time.
Got let go today. Does anyone know if severance is taxed as regular wages or as supplementary? I can’t find this info only that it’s paid as lump sum.
@juk+1o2cpJFa
Anyone know which doc he's referring to in Sparq?
I’m ref to why Sev is less than what’s in Sparq, no answer yet. Do yourselves a favor and send that policy to yourselves.
Hiring already started. I just got an email for a contract role. They are letting all full-time employees go and hiring cheap labor. Checked LinkedIn
Did they say why it is less than what is on Sparq?
WellMed San Antonio under Optum getting hit hard across the board all jobs/pay grades from Medical Management to Clinics.
Request: can you all stop dropping the dept acronyms!?!.. Thank you. Spell it out the departments. 👀👁️😁
GL 31, 15 years
RIFd just now. Grade 30. Be aware. They offer less severance than what severance policy in Sparq states. Read the policy and fight for what you deserve before signing anything.
