Is Nordstrom working culture and environment is truly better than Macy’s? Is the grass really greener?

I've worked at both and YES, while Nordstrom isn't great, Macy's is BEYOND WORSE.
At Macy's, I was in one of the Top 150 doors and it was a MESS. Clothes all over the floors and piled up on tables. The stockrooms were worse, you could barely get by. Racks and racks of go-backs from the dressing rooms lined the hallways off the floor. And when there was a big corporate visit at a particular store, managers and visual were pulled from all over the district to get the store picture perfect. They didn't want the CEO and his team to see the truth of how the store looked day-to-day. It was all smoke and mirrors. Such a joke.
Just look up Neil Saunders on Twitter. He's a retail consultant and is always posting horrifying photos of Macy's stores.
The worst company to work ever. They just care about money. No matter how skillful you are no Matter how your customer service is outstanding. They will dump you in the trash can without even saying thank you for your services. And yes there is favoritism nepotism and all kind of trash there. If the manager like you of course after kissing her or his a-s and being a snitch, then you maybe ok. Unless if a decision made by high management to cut employees than you will be gone
Nordstrom hires and promotes based on who they like, favoritism, nepotism versus experience and skills. You want my advice? Mixing business with pleasure is their thing, all about “boyfriend / girlfriend” work kinda stuff.
macys is a dumpster fire full of lunatic losers and ceo who couldn't tie his own shoes. macys will su-k the sheer life out of you then dump you like a hot potatoes
Toxic work culture. Ruuunnn… benefits and emp discount aren’t worth it
Macys is the dumpster, Nordstrom is the trash can.
