This is a serious question. I have a job waiting for me whenever I want to start, but I don't want to simply walk away and miss out on a nice payout. After so many years here, I do think I deserve it. If there's a way to volunteer, maybe that would end up saving somebody's job, and I know the majority of people don't want to be laid off. Should I talk to my manager about this (skip the new job part, of course)?

I've worked with some people who were so inept, I was hoping they were moonlighting.
They never got fired even after several years of working there. They just got laid off.
Just start your new gig.
I tried this, but it was not received well. Depends on the department, but I found management is too worried about saving themselves. I ended up doing the malicious compliance thing and was eventually let go. It was uncomfortable but I am so much better off.
During the last round of redundancies, we were told that you can't volunteer for the redundancy package.
Also the selection criteria was wrong.
Not sure what the criteria is this time.
Start your new job but keep your current one too so you get 2 paychecks. Work as little as you want at Alteryx, let them fire you and hope for a severance. If you get nothing, you were getting that anyway by leaving on your own
Just leave, you're not concerned about saving someone's job or else you would have left immediately to save someone considering you have the new gig lined up. I'm all about sticking it to corporate but now your messing with someone else's livelihood for greed and disguising it with nobility.
