Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

TDA Karma?

"CGAN has used TD Ameritrade since the late 1990s and came over to Schwab after the reported $22 billion acquisition closed in 2020. However, Schwab’s culture and strategy doesn’t align with what CGAN was looking for in a partner, said CEO Tony Mazzali.

Though he didn’t cite specific issues with Schwab’s custodian, Mazzali said Axos provided more clarity on how it could support CGAN’s growth as an independent firm.

'They were asking us questions for how they could become better partners for us,' he said. 'How they could build our brand to the clients, not build their brand to the client.'

Schwab declined to comment...."

"More independent firms are going to start looking outside the traditional big three custodians — Schwab, Fidelity Institutional and BNY Mellon Pershing — in response to a rapidly evolving industry, Mazzali said.

'The next three to five years are going to be really interesting to see what develops,' Mazzali said. 'There’s a lot of angst about what I would call this gap in this industry.'"

Pershing and Fidelity did say after the deal closed that they were going try to scoop up some advisors. And there was an announcement by one of them a couple years ago that TDA advisors were expressing interest. But seems like very few actually changed custodians.

Axos is also in Omaha, and it looks like they've recruited some of TDA's people. I worked for both companies, and Axos was kind of a joke.

@1nwk+1o1i96GS many have. Others are locked in with unvested shares. It's not just former green. Longtime blue are miserable, too. Sometimes moreso

Former TDA people, serious question for you, if you dislike Schwab so much why don't you leave? I couldn't imagine working for a company I disliked as many of you seem to.

They had me until they said they moved to LPL.

They will regret the move, especially their 70 Advisors. TDA had a better Advisor technology stack than Schwab has for Advisors, but the LPL technology stack is much much worse than both.
