Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

Stepping stone

Now I fully understand those who advise me to use this place only as a stepping stone. What worries me is whether PepsiCo is actually a good stepping stone because a former colleague, who got the job here about the same time as me, is now in a company that is not much better than this one here.
Is it just him or does Pepsico not carry much weight on resume anymore?

Indra su-ked the place dry, and left it in a shambles that can't be fixed by the airheaded self interested execs that are supposed to be running the joint. It's a resume stain now.

PepsiCo carries weight on your resume but don't take that for granted. You have to market yourself and apply to progressive positions to land a better role and salary.

It takes a while to realize that PepsiCo makes your promotion decision based on arbitrary factors, such as color, s-x etc. and not your performance. Therefore, there are two groups of employees, one that fit their stat, and the other that don't fit it. Determining what group you are part of is important to manage your stress, aspirations, and timing if you need to jump the boat.

The name of company, brands you support, global exposure etc.. will add weight on your resume. Be wise and make it work for you.

Many of the l ex-Pep people I know will tell you of new coworkers being wary of them until they get to know them - concerned that they’ll be some kind of head-case given where the new guy/gal came from…

PepsiCo definitely has the image of a “has been” company. Just use it as a place to bide your time while looking for a position at a decent company.

I think most employers know PepsiCo is a ruthless employer and works their rank and file to the point of exhaustion and exasperation. That in itself might show a future employer that you have a high pain threshold. As for prestige - that’s long gone. I can’t imagine too many are proud to work for this declining organization any longer. Our manager today acknowledged that the chiefs know many will quit due to return to office. They are in fact counting on it to reduce severance expenses in advance of Q4 cuts. This company only values the price of their stock - not the health and happiness of the workers who made the place so profitable. A pitiful but all too common example of big business in the US today.
