Thread regarding Avaya layoffs

The logic behind it all

I still can't understand the logic behind getting rid of knowledgeable people while in the meantime promoting some of the greatest mediocrity. Isn't that an extremely destructive way of managing a company?

Redundancy place to work.

That's the only reason anyone is hanging about, not the dead product.

That's what Galway is now, unless your a graduate joining that ghost town office.

I worked for Avaya once and left it..it was tough getting a new job and proving to employers that you are still goof and motivated individual. There is a sh-t repo of Avaya and the leftover employees. And its fair. Most people i know who are there are publicly known to be waiting for redundancy and the whole atmosphere is amazing! Like a bunch of people who love the sh-t they are in. Just no motivation to leave! I would say 90% of motivated people are gone…the ones that are left do a lick-gass job and still get to spend company money on lunches and dinners are corporate travel. Its so unfair to the 10%, i hate this 90% mentality. Cant imagine how poorly the good people would feel right now at this company while it still feeds innovation with disruption cr-p to the market, wants to jump onto buzzwords like metaverse, crypto, GPT blah blah. Believe me you, noone even considers Avaya a player in the market now. Just seen as a bunch of losers…but there are some customers where the leaders are still Avaya backgeound people so their jobs are dependent on it..hence the slow rut continues. Try your best to get out 10% guys….dont live with this cr-p….

Perspective.for my US Colleagues who are seething with envy over the sharing that some in Galway get 100k.

  • about 20% or more of that is matched my IRE government
  • AND ALL of it is taxed significantly. Think double or more of being a California resident.

So, no. Not a windfall. US employees always do better

It's a balance sheet exercise now that Avaya is in Private Equity world.

They will continue to cut, cut , cut and need to hire back many as contractors. But the balance sheet looks better.

People let go in Galway are laughing all the way to the bank on average receiving €100k package and walking into better jobs. Its a waiting game now in the Galway office, with the joke going around that some will be probably hired back as contractors when the aseholes in the USA realise that College grads can't do the work. It's good to work in galway waiting for the payoff..

There is no logic to letting go experienced people so don’t look for it. It’s another poor executive decision that will slow roadmap . People in Galway will be mopped up by several CC competitors locally and in Ireland like Genesys, Twilio, Cisco, Alvaria and Ringcentral. HP and Fidelity are also local as well as many SMEs and interesting start ups in Porter shed. It’s generous of Avaya to make experienced talent available who wouldn’t leave otherwise and benefit the overall ecosystem in Ireland. There’s a world of opportunity out there. Go for it.

Looks like you can only work for avay if you reside in Argentina and India
