Tesla does not pay well for engineers in comparison to EM, and job stability is way worse. Ole Elon, who does mot actually have a STEM degree or do any actual work, is famous for demanding that his employees work “hard core” for him while he reaps all the fame and benies. Elon may be one of the only CEOs out there that makes Durwood seem reasonable.
@1bxg. Very good summary. The sponsoring of id--ts needs to be ranked top choice. We have lost so many great employees and knowledge due to managers that are there because of no other reason and a system that rewards them for nothing.
No system is perfect but obvious improvements are:
Stop forced ranking.
Falsely claiming credit for work of others becomes fatal flaw.
Helping coworkers succeed should be the highest value
Stop sponsorship of chosen id--ts.
Stop manipulating the performance rank lists to achieve target distributions.
Individual expert contributors values equal to their Supervisor claiming credit for their work
Stop taking RG points away from people based on age
High ultimate potential decoupled from ranking and performance only considered in ranking

May be so, but Tesla pay is better. XOM has poor culture, poor pay structure, and poor benefits even within oil and gas, forget about comparing with non oil and gas.
At least we get some lubes.
