Is Ford experienced respected by other employers?

Wondering if being associated is going to harm me as I start my job search.

Being associated with the company isn't the problem....the various skills we learned while we worked there is the problem. I found most of those skills are not used universally in the auto industry, so the resume gets tossed. It may be wise to consider changing fields to non-auto related companies in order to find work quickly. That's just my 2 cents.

If you are willing to relocate to an area of the country that isn’t aware to the Ford mediocrity and silos you will have better luck. Those with considerable experience with Ford employees will chuck your resume in the wastebin.

Not very good. Ford alums are considered rigid, lazy and entitled. Based on most of the posts here, they are not far off the mark.

Generally it will be an asset. A large number of resumes have companies that you have to google to even find out what they are so having a fortune 100 with name recognition helps.

I was a Sanitation Engineer at Dearborn site for 6 years.
No problem finding a better-paying/better-benefits job quickly.
No problem at all.

Well.l, there is a plus side to not being a disrespectful rotten person to suppliers you work with while at Ford. They would be your best bet for a Plan B.

And yes, I have a few Plan B's should my number come up at Ford.

Absolutely not. I was a hiring manager at a global Fortune 500 supplier to Ford, and we tossed resumes from Ford salary people without reading. 1) their experience was too narrow from working in silos, 2) they were too used to the “family” plan of not working too hard, and 3) they usually had an inflated view of their value.

Some companies might feel differently, good luck.
