Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Lowe's developing distributed workforce app

Just like Uber but to staff the stores. Roll out scheduled in 2024. look for all non-management full-time positions to be eliminated by end of fiscal year, Then part-time hours will be slashed until they are gone.

The end of this fiscal year? As in, September 30?

From what I hear it will be the MST and department supervisors who will be the sole PE operators in the store, all are going to be required to be certified on every piece of equipment. Training is being developed for the store leadership team so they stay legal with regards to contract workers and will be available and assigned the week of the transition. Currently it looks like around 5 hours of computer based followed by store leadership meeting mostly reviewing and clarifying roles and responsibilities ETC.

Gotta cut them costs somewhere. Customers know best anyway right?

In all seriousness, this is an incredibly short-sighted fix to increased stock prices. If someone can just "pick-up" a shift at random from Lowe's they could probably just leave whenever suits them too. Plus how does someone operate power equipment who is essentially a contracted employee?

Explains why the FT people left are getting documented more and more now. They are getting managed out.

I'll be promoting myself to customer later this year.
However, what you describe has been where I expected Marvin and the Marvettes to steer this Titanic.
