Why risk being laid off? I don't think that risk is worth it for many of us here.

"Why risk being laid off?"
How about 3.5-5 months worth of free salary! Getting laid off in the current economic climate is not a blot on your resume. Pick your severence package, take a break and then find a good opportunity early next year when the job market recovers. Hurrying pointlessly into another cr-ppy job or company is not a good idea
Left 1.5 years ago, got more TC and better working environment. Full remote
Deal or No Deal, this will be a challenging year. Timing severance and landing a new job is less important then your well-being. Make your decision-stay or leave-and see it thru.
If you have job offers lined up, just pull the trigger. Otherwise you could try to time it so you get both severance and sign on. Some people I know have done it.
