Extremely Annoying "Connected Recognition" Emails

Honestly, I just don't care who sends Connected Recognition to whom on what. It has nothing to do with me, nor do I have any intention of celebrating him/her because Connected Recog means nothing but staff relationships. He/She did nothing outstanding or excellent. He or she is just polishing an apple for him/her. The same old people send it to the same old people. Such a stupid childish system the company is still doing.

However, what is worse, we cannot stop getting the CR emails as long as we belong to its team. It's not like we can unsubscribe to it. Of course I've filtered it to the "Junk Email" in my Outlook so I don't have to bother seeing it, and yet as I permanently delete it, it still jumps into my eyes. So so so annoying and even feel so sick each time I see it!

Is there any way I will EVER see it?

The whole connected recognition is just a poor substitute for rewarding employees.

The annual bonus is how you get rewarded. CRs are just a nice, but cheap way of giving someone a "pat on the back" and make them feel good. I hated working at a place where your only recognition was the annual bonus. It's nice to have someone put a comment about why they're recognizing you for some task you performed instead of the completely impersonal annual bonus that doesn't recognize anything except your overall performance.

@2gtx+1nskPuxf, I need to increase my rate then. My old team would give the person sending the CRs $5. Give out 3 in a quarter, you get $15 and each person gets $20. Fairly even split.

Although, sometimes we'd just go alphabetically and Bob would recognize Charlie, Charlie would recognize Frank, Frank would recognize Nick, and Nick would recognize Bob and everyone got $25. Then we'd offset by 2 and Bob would recognize Frank, and so on.

Easy money & no need to pay someone.

Maybe sending $25 CRs to our SLT would make the point-

Why would I waste the team's CR budget giving $25 to someone who makes too much money for what they do as it is? Our manager will tell us during the last month of the quarter how much CR budget is left and highly encourage us to nominate each other for $25 or $100 awards to finish off the budget so it doesn't go to waste. Or s/he will just spend it with $100 awards to those they think did extra stuff that quarter.

Two dudes on my team gave me $10 each in return for a CR. I did. They made a net profit of $15 each. I made $20. Win-win for all 3.

OP, post your ID here and I'll send you a CR so you can buy some cheese to go with your whine. Oh, wait, you've set up an email rule to delete the emails, so you won't know you've received it. Too bad.

I liked that there was a recent email that went out challenging everyone to give out 2 $25 CRs last month and to give out 2-3 $25 CRs every quarter, so that's one a month.

Each team gets a quarterly budget of CR money. Spend it or lose it, so why isn't everyone using up their team's quarterly bucket of free CR money to give people $25 a month? Sure, $250 a year isn't much, but it adds up. There's no reason people shouldn't be giving them out, and if you're doing work that helps your team mates out, they should be giving you a CR. If you're not getting any, you need to ask yourself about whether you help your team or if your team is just a bunch of self-centered id--ts.

I often get $25 CRs from people who email me looking for help w/ something that aren't on my team. For larger tasks that I'm assigned to work on, my typical CR is $100 - $250 and comes from a manager, the PM, or someone who is waiting on that task to be delivered so they can use it. I've received $350 in CRs just this past month, but my ave is between $250-300 per quarter.

I received a CR about every month or two, my first thought was "who is trying to kiss my A$$" Yep, that's about it.

"Now it’s these dinky little CR Starbucks latte bullsh-t things."

That $h!t has been going on for over a decade and they were and still are still B$. I should know, I still have one that is from around then and I don't even like Starbucks. Talk about showing appreciation for hard work. Trashy.

I send small CR's all the time to people who help me out or go out of their way. They get a few bucks and, more importantly, their manager gets a report of how good a job they did. You get to feel good to because you helped actually recognize someone in a meaningful way and make them feel good about the job they do

Of all the things to complain about, you choose this? What's wrong, never received or sent one one? I'm guessing not, since if you had you would know how it makes a difference to people's self worth at work.

You grinch

Tell me you're b-tthurt about not receiving a CR without explicitly telling me you're b-tthurt about not receiving a CR

How long has it been since someone did a "Reply All" to the entire company? Some good poems and recipes come out in the resulting storms.
