US employees: prepare yourself, hone your skills always

Outsourcing is not something new, but post-COVID companies realize that if some US employees could do their job remotely, those jobs could be shipped to overseas. I've worked with other similar companies, and while they didn't say it out loud, but the trend is obvious. This is especially more true with Software related positions.
Never mind all these talks about mergers, layoffs etc. All those beyond our control in most cases. That being said, not all positions will be outsourced, but to survive you will need to be on top of your game. So prepare yourself, hone your skill, whatever that means, whatever it takes. This may also include changing your fields. Also, you work to provide for yourself and family. So put yourself and your family first. Job is after that. That's the only thing that matters.

Not quite as cut and dry as you think it is. 1 headcount does not equal another headcount of equal value. There is no 1:1 replacement, especially with outsourcing. From a glorified executive position you may think, gee I can get 5 people for the price of one over here. The quality of workers is not the same. The pareto principle is alive and well.
