Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

All trust is gone

Poor Mr. Schwab and family - He built such a great name and reputation based on trust and being different, more down to earth, than any other big wall street firm. But as we know, trust is lost in an instant. Now all trust is gone. It's "us vs. them" and we can't trust them. Not a good move to make when you are depending on your 30,000 employees to ensure your integration execution is flawless. The EC should all be fired for making such a monumental announcement right before integration is finished. If their judgment on timing is this poor, they should not be running this place. Do they really think this is going to happen flawlessly now????? Now employees don't care. We don't even care if we get fired. Mr. Schwab should take a stand that this is not what his company is all about. He should remind Walt that he was sympathetic to him when Walt went crying that he needed to be there at the school bus when his kids got home after his divorce. He should remind Walt that the "rules for thee, but not for me" is not good for a company "built on trust".

What's worse, Walt can't even recognize he is or was wrong. I guess it's his pride. He claims he "doesn't deal in absolutes", but there are actual recordings of him doing just that. He doesn't deal in absolutes until he does.

Walt LIED to us all. It's not about returning to the office. It's about the way this is being handled. This could've been approached and communicated much differently. But that's not how Walt and the EC works. I lost all trust in an instant.

A lot of people in closed location are hurt. It was a big surprise off the heels of "we need everyone back for culture, the future, etc.". Our office was a training hub and has a large call center presence.
I don't necessarily think our company owes us WFH or interest in our personal lives. But they shouldn't deceive us entirely, or communicate news in a shady way that makes us feel more isolated and less valued. Tim Hockey confronted changes and took it upon himself to tell us with careful messaging. Schwabbies may not know what a great CEO is like, but the TD people who held up Schwab during the pandemic and provided service to self-directed traders do.
