IBM ki-ls its Education Cloud after just two-and-a-bit years

This the start of IBM moving off providing its own Cloud. Boville going was the first salvo...
Give it two years and IBM will not have a Cloud at all.

Another step towards being a Service Company not a hardware company.

It won't ki-l Mainframe per-se - the die-hard corp addicts will still use them.

It IS one less sales, services, consulting hook to sell mainframes.

If IBM's cloud is irrelevant, then so is its mainframe business. I don't know of any cloud services in the marketplace (other than IBM) that offer virtual mainframe services.

AWS, Microsoft and Google rendered IBM’s cloud irrelevant.

Or, more properly, IBM rendered IBM’s cloud irrelevant.

Most their tools hosted on cloud have so many outages it's not even funny.
