Thread regarding 3M layoffs

No high hopes

Somehow I still haven't lost hope that there could be some improvement here, but no matter whom I talk to, no one has much hope left.
Why?
Have you lost all faith in our leadership's judgments?

It's true. There is a lot of incompetence starting a plant POC. Tons of examples but two of my favorites were plant managers having to approve ink pen purchases and a draconian obsession with audit findings on signature legibility. I still can't believe the stupidity of supposedly "smart" people.

Can you blame them?

The #2 guy was caught up in a pr---------n sting, allegedly, and not for the first time. That alone should tell you something about the caliber of judgement that was going on in the upper ranks. Isolated incident? Maybe. But this leader was also making business decisions for the company for years! Yikes.

Too much trying to please external groups (DEI) and not enough trying to keep employees happy. It used to be that if you took care of mother mining, mother mining took care of you. Not any more. Years of service were appreciated (celebrations). Families were valued and recongnized (pinics), focus on growing you as a person, good management decisions. Now, you are just a number and you better check all the right boxes for our DEI initiatives or you are out.

Is this a serious question?!

Because 3M's current senior leadership has completely and entirely failed to provide any sort of successful strategic direction to the company. They are all failed executives who have yet to drive any meaningful success in the organizations they are attempting to lead.

Much shorter version: 3M's executives are all incompetent.

Any other questions?

Nothing changes until leadership changes. Lead director. Management.
