@hdzg+1nnqdI3K They went through the effort to generate spreadsheets of everyone's distance from closest office, average commute, and loads of other data points to deny requests. Badge tracking and reporting against what you report in workday is set up and running today. they will not turn it off.

So what if you are financially safe to get terminated? I would just ride it out and see what happens. I only have one other team member that is my general area, and even then they live more than hour away, I highly doubt they will make the commute. The only question I have it how will they track the RTO when my immediate manager works in another state. And how long will it take for them to stop counting badge swipes anyway?
Most people who comment on this are making uneducated guesses based on what they "think" or "feel" should happen.
I have multiple friends in HR and have discussed with all of them. The consensus is that as long as you continue to login and do your job from home they cannot call it job abandonment. It also isn't considered gross misconduct (that's things like se-ual harassment) so you SHOULD (states do vary) be eligible for unemployment if they eventually do fire you for not showing up.
Check the recent news on this. Companies who did RTO earlier in the year are JUST NOW starting to take notice of the people not showing up and threatening them with being fired. Worth a shot to at least buy you more time.
After 3 occurrences it is considered job abandonment. No severance and potentially no unemployment, either.
You'll be terminated. Lose your bonus. Marked as non-regrettable. Bear the scarlet letter of a termination. Sounds like great planning.
Get fired for insubordination. No severance, no hiring you back. That’s what will happen.
Then we will deactivate you from all systems and send you an invoice for the equipment.
What other choice do we have? It’s what I’m going to do and probably many others too.
My whole team are all in another location. It's pointless to go back into an office where no one I work with is there. I'd rather quit but since idgaf I might as well keep working from home until they say something.
