Typical quarter end madness here. We’re expecting the layoffs will be next week, if not this afternoon. This place is nuts!!!

Most definite. If facilities dropped off boxes that was a good a signal layoffs were on the way..Remember those days well ..
The tell used to be pallets of boxes delivered at or near the offices between a week and 2 days before the a fell. The number of boxes divided by 3 was the number of people to be let go. So sneaky.
If you knew anyone in corporate trucking or at the loading docks they'd call you when the boxes showed up in your area and tell you the amount....
After David Kearns Xerox took a turn for the worst. Allaire and his ilk brought on a mean spirited attitude.Ann’s short tenure was a brief respite but UB brought the house down. She didn’t like anyone especially the worker bees.
Xerox HR lost that warm and fuzzy feeling
about the time Mr. Mumbles Paul Allaire
took over ..He spoke out of both sides of his mouth without his lips moving ..Really helped coin the word doublespeak.
Obviously no good way to let people go,
But having people not being able to login
when beginning their day was down right mean.
Friday use to be lay-off day.Management would announce a mandatory all hands to be present at 10am.. That was the tip-off for layoffs ..In later years any day of the week was layoffs. If one was unable to log in it was notification you were gone. Many good hard working employees received this morning surprise..It also meant your immediate manager did not have to be present and could show up later after the tears and carnage ..Thanks Xerox ..
Don't they have some policy against doing Friday afternoon layoffs? Afraid of suicides or something. Second quarter results are probably not fully in anyway. I seem to recall losing several people in my former department mid-July after 2Q results.
