Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

Would we be in this position now if the people who said they would come into the office actually came into the office.

Do yall think they would have announced RTO if the people who said they would come in the office 3 days a week with workplace flexibility, actually came in the office 3 days a week?

Also Bettinger also said they are rethinking the office and cubicle policy. What do yall think that means?

"Wait do you think EC decided to irreparably harm company morale because a few people were not coming in when they should? "
My dude, I saw the reports. Aside from a small number of folks who religiously came in 2/3 times a week - the great majority of people did not come in. Door reports don't lie. People got complacent and lazy. That being said as with any policy, they should have started reporting and requiring enforcement way earlier if they were serious about the more relaxed policy. It was left up to people leaders and the majority of them didn't want to rock the boat with employees.

The opposite could be asked:
Would we be in this position now if the people who said they would work at home the office actually WORKED at home?
Not for RTO at all, but I do my three days a week. Maybe a certain segment working from home may not be as productive as they could be, ruining the accommodation for everyone. The plausibility goes both ways.

This was in the works _long_ before Walt told people to honor their oath.

Speaking of losing our desks...

We were fine losing our desks and they mailed our stuff to us. This indicated to me that WFH was permanent. Why would you now force RTO, just to spend more time and money assigning desks again?

Yes because it’s not about the people that aren’t coming in 3 days a week. They really thought when they said you would loose your desk if you choose more than 50% less people would choose to work from home 100% of the time

Yes, after the last time Walt wagged his honor your commitment finger, people updated to more WFH time....

Wait do you think EC decided to irreparably harm company morale because a few people were not coming in when they should? This is one hundred about saving money on layoffs, there is zero consideration for any ethical or moral dilemmas. It’s all money. This is some weird cope anyway. If a few people came in late repeatedly, do you think they would fire everyone? Or just the people not coming in? Be serious here.

I do NOT think we would be in this position if people would have adhered to their agreements since it was brought up a few times in the past year. But why punish EVERYONE?
