Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

GM and Ford cannot win the battle

The EV bug has caught on. GM and Ford are bleeding money to keep up pace with Tesla. Neither has a bone of innovation or efficiency left in their body. The layoffs will continue until

  1. They go bankrupt
  2. They cannot afford to loose any more people who keep the lights on
  3. They can't afford to pay enough to attract new talent

Detroit based auto industry is well on its course to dying within the next 20 years. What remains to be seen is how bloody its end will be.

"How could you? Bitter feelings and anger about EV's doesn't make you a business analyst."
I am not sure how this childish comment relates to wondering how much real demand there is for EVs. Our market presently looks sort of artificial.

GM makes its money off selling expensive gas guzzlers. If that market drops it would be detrimental to GM's revenue.

Bud Light and Walt Disney? Looks like some boomers wandered into the wrong thread.
Stay focused people.
The conversation is about GM committing vast resources to compete with Telsa.
Any thoughts on that?
The OP thinks GM will go bankrupt doing so.
I have my reservations. GM is continuing to invest in plants that make conventional internal combustion power-trains, despite the "zero zero zero" Marxist WEF rhetoric.
Given that GM is the #1 seller of cars in the US and that 99% of those cars are ICE, I seriously doubt GM would go bankrupt any time soon. Plenty of cash to invest in alternative platform technology.

If a boycott from the right had a big effect,Walt Disney World will be almost empty next time you visit.

I'm not buying into any of this negative talk.
No one knows what will happen to any company in 20 years.

Could anyone have imagined 20 years ago that Bud Light, which was the #1 beer in America for decades drop by 30% in sales in 2023?

GM could be the automotive powerhouse of the planet it 20 years.
You don't know! How could you? Bitter feelings and anger about EV's doesn't make you a business analyst.
