"Founded in 1999 as Ascension Health, Catholic health giant Ascension restructured to its current form and branding in 2011-12. Along with its core clinical and managed care services, it also supports venture capital and direct strategic investing, facilities management, risk management and contracting through its group purchasing organization.
As of the fiscal year closed June 30, 2022, the system counted 139,000 associates and 36,000 affiliated providers as part of its organization. It had 144 hospitals and 40 senior living facilities among its roughly 2,600 care sites spread across 19 states and the District of Columbia."
