Thread regarding 3M layoffs

Stockholm syndrome

That's the only thing I can think of as an explanation for why so many good people are still here.

I get a kick out of how all the people that are still at 3M posting here have tricked themselves into thinking it’s everyone else who’s the problem. But not them.

Oh I’m just waiting to see the new CEO, I’m waiting for retirement, I hope they buy me out, I’m just milking it, I don’t care anymore….

Sounds like 3M is the perfect place for you to be. What’s the problem? So weird.

It pays the bills. The company doesn’t get as much of me any more. The passion is gone. It isn’t fun. It all seems pointless. So it gets back to the first statement….it pays the bills.

I'm still at 3M because I haven't found any good alternatives yet.

I had hoped to start at 3M until I retire in another 15 years or so, but that's not looking like it's possible anymore, so I've been applying.

The problem is that I haven't been in my role long enough to be ready for the next step, and any equivalent positions I find tend to pay 10-20% less. And there aren't nearly as many good openings as there were a year ago.

My job isn't too hard or stressful (beyond the ever-present threat of more layoffs) so I don't want to take a pay cut just because things aren't so great at Mother M right now, but it's depressing to feel like I'm stuck in a dead-end job.

I unfollowed 3M in LinkedIn. It feels perverse for the company to be touting how “caring” and “innovative” they are when they’re really not.

And continuously posting on LinkedIn about life with 3M. Stop already, it's embarrassing.

Not this again. I'm here because I want to be. The end.
