It was about her change in control amount and how she doesn’t have to work a day in her life again. Also a big congratulations for all the employees that remain after the purge. “You earned it!”

If Betsy's lips are moving she's lying! One second she says "we don't have a retention issue...." and the very next words out of her mouth were "we're continuing to hire..." - a complete contradiction in terms.

Did anyone else notice Ragu squirming in his chair when Betsy backed the bus over him, by telling everyone that Ragu wanted everyone back in the office....he cringed and couldn't wait for her to shut up.

Zoophiles are underrepresented at this company and it has me gravely concerned about the quality and direction of our products

Without seeing you in person, Betsy and company have to commit the horrible sin of evaluating and rating you by the quality of your work, rather than by the color of your skin or your se-ual preferences which is all she cares about.

Betsy “I just saw the work done on this project and it’s amazing! Let’s meet this person in the office to say thank you.” Person walks in and Betsy thinks “Hold on! This person is a straight white male! We cant praise them for their work. What will all my DEI friends think about me after this.”

As far as I know, I still receive notices re the latest COVID outbreak in PA. I view these notices as "don't come to the office". As long as I receive these notices, and until I receive my bullet, the turtles are on their own as far as I'm concerned.

I referred to in the middle of drama, even on Layoff. Not sure where your "in-person" came from, as that had no bearing on anything else in this conversation. So that was a surprise gotcha.

Yes, here I am, not in the office. Layoff.com is not the office in case you haven’t noticed.

Why would I want to see our inept leaders in person? The more distance between myself and those id--ts the better.

Yet, here you are. Dragging yourself into the scenario you suggested that you stayed away from.

Since there has not really been any sensible answers here, let me enlighten you, and end with a story.

First she talked about how VMware being a dispersed company didn't happen overnight, it took a long time, so she said any return to the office would also be a transition.

She said she personally loves on some days wearing her sweatpants and working from home. But coming in one or two days a week gives her the opportunity to be face to face and collaborate with people.

She encouraged people to come in just a day a week, but it's not mandatory. Just encouraged.

This reminds me of a trick my mother used to play on me when I was a child. First she'd say "Harry dear, would you put the kettle on for me?"

"Sure!" I responded willingly.

"Oh while you are there, could you just put one of those round teabags in my cup? Thank you dear."

"But... okay, you do the rest I need to meet my friends, they are waiting."

"The kettle has nearly boiled now, just put the water in for me and then you can go and meet your friends."

"Don't we have servants to do this? You are tricking me!"

You see where this was going. Before I knew it I had made a glorious cup of British tea for my mother, Queen of England. The end result even included a scone and a cucumber sandwich, both of which she was very partial to.

The same thing is happening with working from the office. Unless you are in a field role meeting customers every week, or one of the rare exceptions where Hock Tan overlooks that fact you live on Necker Island owned by Richard Branson, then you'll be expected to come to the office, have no doubt.

Perhaps a day or two a week to start... until the Broadcom culture fully assimilates the collective and any trace of a VMware consciousness is like a wisp in the wind.
